Southern Utah Blues Festival is excited to present Tony Holiday as part of this year’s lineup. Tony was an asset to the Blues scene in Salt Lake City for several years. He relocated to Memphis in 2017, where he made music among legends and surrounded himself with other young up-and-coming musicians, helping to build on the city’s rich traditions and carry them forward. Holiday now returns to Utah to perform at SUBF by way of New York State, and fresh off a European tour.
Motel Mississippi, Holiday’s 2nd solo album, combines the sounds of North Mississippi Hill Country, Delta Blues, and Memphis soul. Motel Mississippi is equal parts hypnotic blues, driving soul, and juke joint stomper. Tony’s records offer forward-thinking quality and conjure up a vibe that’s modern and retro at the same time.
